The number and percentage of clients served in other age cohorts has risen significantly as well.
- The number of children and youth ages 0-17 receiving DSHS services in Pierce County has risen from 76,685 (40.2% of the age cohort) in 2000 to 98,792 (48.9%) in 2007. SFY2008 saw an increase of 2,306 to more than 101,000 children and youth accessing DSHS services. In SFY 2009/10 there was a 47% (+47,700) increase in the number of children age 0-17 accessing DSHS services. This is nearly 73% of the age group living in Pierce County.
- The number of adults receiving DSHS services has risen from 69,885 (15.9% of the cohort) in 2000 to 134,620 (26.7%%) in 2007. SFY2008 saw an increase of over 5,000 adults to nearly 140,000 adults accessing DSHS services. SFY 2009/10 saw an increase of 48% (+67,338) adults age 18-64 accessing DSHS services. This accounts for 39.8% of the age group in living in Pierce County.
