Median Household Income

Median household income in Pierce County has kept pace with Washington State as a whole, and is in between the median household income for urban counties like ours.  In 2009, the projected median household income in Pierce County is $51,479, compared to $52,413 per year for Washington State. Snohomish County has a projected household median income over $8,000 higher than Pierce County, while Spokane County has a projected household median income more than $9,000 less than Pierce County. 

Median Household income for these areas has fallen since reaching a high point in 2006.  The projected household median income for Pierce County is expected to be roughly 9% less than in 2006, largely due to the rise in unemployment.
