The US military is the largest employer in Pierce County, currently employing approximately 58,000 people including military personnel and civilians.  Since 2000, there has been a 71% increase in military personnel and civilians employed in Pierce County, but this year there has been a slight reduction in employment compared to 2010.

 
This data does not include people who work for contractors on the bases, or the people who work for the Exchange.  This data should be considered an estimate as deployments and other factors affect the number stationed or employed by the military.
