Public Safety

Are our children staying out of trouble?  Are families safe at home?  Public safety crime data provides one framework by which to measure the ability of the citizens to lead their lives in a safe environment.

Many factors affect the amount and types of crime reported in a community such as the economic status, educational attainment and the composition (particularly age) of the population living in a community.

Indicators in this section look at arrest rates for property crimes and violent crimes for youth ages 10 to 14 and ages 10 to 17, adult arrest rates for violent crimes, domestic violence offenses and the total crimes committed in Pierce County as reported by the Washington Uniform Crime Reporting program.
